About

My primary responsibility is to represent and help my constituents wherever possible. I pride myself on being an accessible and responsive MP.

I am a vigorous champion for Huddersfield in Parliament, ensuring that we are well represented. I am also an active campaigner on a wide range of local interests – the economy, road safety, health, education, jobs and skills and industry, as well as specific campaigns on carbon monoxide poisoning, trade justice and ground rents.

I believe passionately in the importance of the democratic system with a strong parliament. My parliamentary record for speaking in debates, tabling parliamentary questions and voting shows that I am one of the most active MPs in Parliament.

I see my role as an MP as an essential link between my constituents and Government and Parliament. A key part of my role is to make sure that the Government is aware of and reacts to issues raised locally, helping constituents to understand and make use of Government policies and legislation.
